Amendment 10 of the US Constitution – “The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.”
The 10th amendment allows the people of Oklahoma to set up their own State interests. The people of Oklahoma want a good educational system, good roads and bridges, good healthcare and they want to be protected with a good public safety system.
There are groups in Oklahoma that believe we should not have to pay any taxes but, taxes are required for all of those areas mentioned above. Kevin believes we do pay too many taxes to the Federal Government. Some Oklahoman’s pay well over 30% of their taxes to the Federal and only 5% to the State. The Federal Congress should be fighting to lower our federal taxes. Our state lawmakers have to fight to keep our tax dollars in our state. Those who sign pledges or say they are against taxes are disingenuous when they also say we should have the best roads, bridges and education. It takes tax dollars to provide a good infrastructure, education and public safety.
